Hi, I am Saumya Nigam, and I am a Postdoctoral research fellow at the Precision Health Program, here at MSU. I received my PhD from IITB-Monash Research Academy, India which was a collaborative effort between IIT Bombay and Monash University. Then I was a temporary research fellow at the department of metallurgical engineering and materials science at IIT Bombay before starting my position as a postdoc at University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA. My research interests are focused on the development of functional nanomaterials for biomedical applications. My current project is targeted towards development of nanoscale platforms for MPI imaging for labelling of functional islets, and image-guided stem cell therapies for diabetes. Outside work, my interests lie in swimming, reading, and cooking. At one point I considered involving myself in wine-tasting too!!
