My name is Shalee, but almost everyone calls me Shay. I graduated from Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Biology with a specialization in Microbiology in 2018. I worked at Central for several years as a Laboratory Technician in the Microbiology, Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratories but I recently moved to the Lansing Area which led me to the wonderful opportunities at Michigan State University. I started in October 2019 as the Laboratory Manager for the Precision Health Program. I work in the Moore, Wang, Sempere, and Mahmoudi Laboratories to ensure everything runs smoothly for our research, including ordering materials, organizing equipment, and training new additions to our growing program. I aid wherever I am needed, including on the bench, aiding in research and helping take care of our facilities. I have learned so much since starting and I learn more every day in the Lab! I’m eager to continue my education someday soon at MSU. When I’m not working, I like hiking with my dachshund, playing with my three cats, and watching cooking shows with my fiancé. I love cross stitching, reading and grooming pets on the side.
